A portfolio is a wall, not a list

Clients hire web designers by looking at websites. So why do most portfolios show three polished thumbnails and a paragraph about passion?

Show every page

A site is a system, and the quality is in the boring pages: the 404, the checkout, the fifth project in the archive. When I put every page of every site on one wall, visitors see consistency, range and taste in a few seconds.

It also takes the pressure off hero shots. No single image has to carry the whole portfolio.

Let people browse their way

Some visitors want a grid, some want to flip through covers, some just want to be impressed. The wall on my home page does all three, and the case studies explain the decisions behind each page.
