Handing over a site clients can actually run

A beautiful site that the client is scared to edit is a broken site. Most of my projects are judged a year after launch, when the client has added thirty pages without me.

Name things the way the client talks

Collections are called Rooms, Firings and Wines, not Items and Posts. Fields are labelled with examples. Every image field says the size it expects.

Design the edges

I design what happens with a very long title, a missing photo, a single item in a list. If the site survives my worst-case content, it survives theirs.

One recorded hour, walking through the jobs they’ll actually do. Brume’s owners now publish each firing themselves in about twenty minutes.
