Halden House
A booking site for a twelve-room quinta on the cliffs of Madeira, written to sell a feeling first and a room second.

01 — The brief
Halden House's website dated from 2014: a blue template, a PDF price list and a button that said 'contact us by email'. About one enquiry in five was lost in an inbox, and the site looked nothing like the place.
02 — The approach
We wrote the site before we designed it: one sentence per page, in the owners' voice. The type is a high-contrast serif set large over the quinta's own light, the room pages drop into an offset grid that reads like a walk down the corridor, and booking lives in one calm button that follows you down the page.
03 — The result
Launched in March. Direct bookings rose 62% in the first season, the average stay grew from 2.8 to 3.6 nights, and the owners answer half as many emails.
Every page, designed

In the client’s words
Guests arrive already knowing which room they want and why. The site does the talking we used to do on the phone.
