Tessel Architects
A portfolio for a civic architecture practice: 41 buildings, 14 cities, and a lot of concrete, shown with the quiet it deserves.
01 — The brief
Tessel's work was scattered over a PDF, an old WordPress site and award pages. Competition juries and clients couldn't see the range, and the practice looked smaller than it is.
02 — The approach
One archive, one grid, one weight of type: a heavy grotesk set in capitals for building names, and nothing else competing with the photography. Each project page leads with a single image, then a plan, then numbers (area, budget, energy), because that is what a jury reads first.
03 — The result
Two competition shortlists in the first six months cited the website in their feedback, and enquiries from schools doubled.
